Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Thank you for being part of the Raproot community. Raproot is a writing adventure for children aged 6 to 12. Children explore the World of Raproot, play writing games and go on story quests, train in the Raproot Training School, and write their own stories with Spark, their writing coach. We know how much you care about protecting your family's personal information, and we take your privacy and your child's safety very seriously.

This Privacy Policy describes how Raproot ("Raproot", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information through our website at www.raproot.com, the Raproot application, and any related online services (collectively, our "Services").

This Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Use. By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use our Services.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by email to the address on your account before they take effect. Continued use of our Services after such notice constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide

We collect information when you register an account, use our Services, or contact us. This may include:

We do not ask children to provide their full name, school name, home address, phone number, or any national identification number. All account information is held by the parent or guardian.

B. Information Collected Automatically

When you use our Services, we may automatically collect certain technical information to help us maintain and improve the platform, including:

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features of the Services may not function correctly as a result. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

C. Information from Third Parties

We do not purchase or receive personal information about you from third-party data brokers or advertising networks. Payment information is handled by our third-party payment processor and is subject to their privacy practices.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

We do not use your child's writing content for any purpose other than providing the Services. We do not display advertising within the Services and do not use personal information for targeted advertising.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your child's information to any third party. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

A. Service Providers

We work with carefully selected third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Services. These providers are permitted to use your information only to perform services on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations. Current service providers include:

B. Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or a competent authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Raproot, our users, or the public.

C. Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of Raproot's assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you by email before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

D. Aggregated Data

We may share anonymised, aggregated data (such as overall usage statistics) that cannot be used to identify any individual user.

E. With Your Consent

We may share your information with third parties if you have given us your explicit consent to do so.

F. Content Your Child Chooses to Share

Some activities let a child share what they have made with other children. These are always optional, and a child's writing is never shared unless they choose to publish it.

A published item can be taken down at any time from the wall it appears on, or by emailing us at hello@raproot.com. Writing a child submits for feedback is never published automatically, and writing a child does inside someone else's shared world is private to that child and is never shown to the world's author.

4. Children's Privacy

Raproot is designed for children aged 6 to 12, with all accounts created and managed by a parent or guardian. We take the following measures to protect children's privacy:

A. Account Held by Parent or Guardian

All Raproot accounts must be created by an Adult (parent or legal guardian). Children do not create their own accounts. The parent or guardian is responsible for all account activity and for ensuring their child uses the Services appropriately.

B. Minimal Data Collection from Children

We collect only the minimum information necessary for a child to use the Services. We do not ask children to provide their full name, school, address, phone number, or any other identifying personal information. The only child-related data we hold is a first name or nickname, their school year or writing level, their progress through activities, and the writing they submit during sessions.

C. Writing Content

Writing submitted by your child is processed automatically, in real time, to produce the feedback Spark gives back. We do not use your child's writing to train any system, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond providing the Services to you.

Your child's writing is private by default and is not shown to other users. The only exception is the optional sharing features described in section 3F, which a child has to choose, and which are screened for safety before anything becomes visible. We retain writing session data only as long as necessary to provide the Services and for reasonable technical support purposes.

D. No Advertising to Children

We do not display any advertising within the Services. We do not allow third-party advertising networks to collect information from children through our platform.

E. Parental Access and Control

As the account holder, you have full access to and control over your child's account at any time. You may review, correct, or request deletion of your child's information by contacting us at hello@raproot.com.

F. Safety Guardrails

Spark, your child's writing coach, follows strict child-safety guidelines. If a child submits content that raises concern (such as references to self-harm or distressing situations), Spark is designed to gently redirect the child to speak to a trusted adult. We encourage parents to maintain open conversations with their children about their writing sessions.

G. A Closed Environment

Raproot is a closed environment built for one purpose. There is no open chat, no browsing of the internet, and no external links inside the child's writing and activity screens. Children cannot message each other, and there is no way for anyone outside your family to contact your child through the Services.

5. Data Security and Retention

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and secure third-party service providers.

However, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted over the internet. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, unless we are required to retain it by law (for example, for tax or audit purposes). Writing session content may be retained in anonymised form for platform improvement purposes.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal data. We extend these rights to every family using Raproot, wherever you are:

We do not sell your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of the above rights.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@raproot.com. We will respond to valid requests within 30 days.

7. Accessing, Correcting, or Deleting Your Information

You may update your account information at any time by logging into your account settings. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information or your child's information, please email us at hello@raproot.com.

When you request deletion of your account:

To verify your identity before processing any request, we may ask you to confirm details associated with your account.

8. Marketing and Communications

By creating an account, you agree to receive the following service communications:

You may also receive optional marketing emails about new features or educational resources. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email. You cannot opt out of essential service communications (such as billing notices) while your account is active.

We do not send marketing communications to children and we do not use children's data for any marketing purpose.

10. Contacting Us

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your personal data, please contact our privacy contact:

We aim to respond to all enquiries within 3 business days. For formal data access, correction, or deletion requests, we will respond within 30 days.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Raproot is established. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the courts of competent jurisdiction in that location.
