These Terms of Use ("Terms") are entered into between you and Raproot ("Raproot", "we", "us", or "our"). These Terms govern your access to and use of our website located at www.raproot.com, the Raproot application, and any related online services (collectively, our "Services").
Raproot is a writing adventure for children. Children explore story worlds, go on quests, play writing games, train in the Raproot Training School, and write their own stories with Spark, their writing coach, who gives them warm and specific feedback on what they wrote.
Please read these Terms carefully before using our Services. By registering an account or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Do not use our Services if you do not agree to these Terms.
In these Terms, "you" refers to the parent or guardian ("Adult") who registers and manages access to our Services on behalf of a child. You represent and warrant that you are an Adult with the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and that you take full responsibility for any child you authorise to use our Services.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of our Services following any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
1. Accounts and Purchases
A. Account Creation
To use Raproot, you must register an account and provide accurate information as requested. You represent that all registration information you submit is truthful and accurate, and you will keep it up to date. Every account must be created and managed by an Adult. An Adult may authorise their child to use the Services under the Adult's account.
One subscription is intended for one child profile. You may add more than one child to your account, each with their own subscription. You may not register multiple accounts to circumvent the free trial or extend subscription access.
B. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at hello@raproot.com of any unauthorised use of your account. You may not sell, transfer, or assign your account or account rights to any other party.
C. Communication Preferences
By creating an account, you agree to receive service-related communications, including billing notifications, and platform updates. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
D. Purchases and Fees
Raproot offers the following subscription plans:
- Monthly Plan: billed monthly
- Quarterly Plan: billed every 3 months
- Annual Plan: billed once a year
- Free Trial: 7 days free access, auto-converting to your chosen plan on day 8
Current prices are shown on the signup page and again at checkout. Where local-currency pricing is available, the price shown at checkout in your local currency will apply, and that amount will be charged. You are responsible to cancel before the end of 7 days is up. After 7 days, there is no refund. We do not otherwise provide refunds for prepaid subscription periods, except where required by applicable law.
E. Third-Party Payment Services
We may use third-party payment processors to handle transactions. By submitting payment information, you authorise us to share such information with these processors for the purpose of completing your purchase. We are not liable for data breaches caused by third-party payment processors through no fault of our own.
F. Subscription Renewal and Cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each subscription period unless cancelled. To cancel, use the parent's dashboard to cancel before your renewal date. You will retain access to the Services for the remainder of your paid period after cancellation.
G. Termination or Suspension
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for breach of these Terms, without refund. If we suspect that information you have provided is false or that you are violating these Terms, we may restrict your access to the Services immediately.
2. Intellectual Property and Use of Services
A. Ownership
All intellectual property rights in and to the Raproot platform, including the Spark character, the World of Raproot together with its regions, maps, characters and stories, the Raproot Training School and its activities, games and quests, lesson structures, the writing feedback system, interface design, and all content (collectively, "Content") are owned by Raproot and protected under applicable intellectual property laws.
B. Limited Licence
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Services for personal, non-commercial educational use only. You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, or commercially exploit any part of the Services or Content without our prior written consent.
C. User-Generated Content
Writing submitted by your child ("User Content") remains your property. By submitting User Content, you grant Raproot a limited, non-exclusive licence to process and display such content for the sole purpose of providing writing feedback through the Services. We will not publish, share, or use User Content for any other purpose without your consent.
You are solely responsible for all User Content submitted through your account. You warrant that such content does not violate these Terms or any applicable law.
D. Feedback
If you provide us with suggestions or feedback about the Services, you grant Raproot the right to use such feedback freely without any obligation to you.
E. Shared Creations
Some activities let a child publish something they have made, such as a comic or an adventure world, so that other children can view, play, or remix it. Publishing is always optional and never automatic.
- Published items appear under a pen name chosen by the child, never their real name
- Every item is screened for safety before it becomes visible to anyone else, and we may decline to publish, or later remove, any item at our discretion
- Other children may view, play, and create their own version of a published item
- By publishing an item, you grant Raproot a non-exclusive licence to display it within the Services and to allow other users to view and remix it, for as long as it remains published
- You or your child may unpublish an item at any time, or ask us to remove it at hello@raproot.com
Writing your child submits for feedback is never published. Writing your child does inside another child's shared world stays private to your child and is never shown to that world's author.
F. Modifications to Services
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Services at any time with or without notice. We will not be liable to you for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.
3. Prohibited Activities

5. Child Safety
Raproot is designed for children aged 6 to 12. We take child safety seriously and have built the following safeguards into our platform:
- Raproot is a closed environment. There is no open chat, no browsing of the internet, and no external links inside the child's writing and activity screens
- Children cannot message one another, and nobody outside your family can contact your child through the Services
- Spark is designed to redirect any off-topic, concerning, or inappropriate conversations
- If a child writes about distressing topics including self-harm or abuse, Spark is designed to gently direct them to speak to a trusted adult
- Spark will not ask children for personal information
- Anything a child chooses to share with other children is screened for safety before it becomes visible
- We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. All account information is held by the parent or guardian
As a parent or guardian, you are responsible for supervising your child's use of the Services and ensuring they comply with these Terms. If you become aware of any content submitted by your child that violates these Terms, please notify us immediately at hello@raproot.com.
6. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

C. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Raproot and its operators from any claims, losses, damages, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (i) your breach of these Terms; (ii) your use of the Services; (iii) User Content submitted through your account; or (iv) your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.
7. Dispute Resolution
If you have a dispute with Raproot, please contact us first at hello@raproot.com and we will endeavour to resolve it informally within 30 days.
If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be referred to mediation at a venue agreed between the parties. If mediation fails, disputes shall be subject to the courts of competent jurisdiction in the location in which Raproot is established.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Raproot is established, without giving effect to any conflict of laws principles.
8. General Provisions
A. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes are material, we will notify you by email to the address on your account at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Services after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
B. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Raproot is established.
C. Electronic Communications
By using our Services, you consent to receive communications from us electronically, including by email. You agree that all agreements, notices, and disclosures provided electronically satisfy any legal requirement for written communication.
